Lainey Duan, Esq. is the founder of Duan Law, a boutique immigration law firm serving entrepreneurs, executives, investors, professionals, and creatives seeking strategic pathways to live and work in the United States. With legal training in both China and the United States, Ms. Duan brings an international perspective, sharp legal analysis, and a business-minded approach to every matter she handles.
Ms. Duan focuses her practice on U.S. immigration strategy for individuals and businesses navigating complex immigration processes. She advises clients on employment-based immigration, business-related immigration solutions, and long-term planning for those building careers, companies, and lives in the United States. Her approach is tailored, practical, and forward-looking, with close attention to each client’s professional goals and personal circumstances.
In addition to her business-focused practice, Ms. Duan has substantial experience in complex immigration matters, including U visa, VAWA, and SIJS cases. She represents clients before USCIS and EOIR, and works through state court proceedings and related law enforcement or prosecutorial processes when necessary to secure the findings and supporting records required for federal immigration relief. This background reflects her ability to manage legally and factually demanding matters with precision, care, and strategic judgment.
Ms. Duan earned her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Fudan University School of Law in Shanghai, a highly regarded law school in China. She then earned her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Iowa College of Law and was admitted to the State Bar of California. To further strengthen her background in business-oriented legal matters, she completed a Master of Laws (LL.M.) at UCLA School of Law.
Having been trained across two legal systems, Ms. Duan understands firsthand the global realities many of her clients face. She is particularly attuned to the needs of internationally minded professionals and families seeking clear guidance in a legal system that often feels overwhelming.
